THE LORD’S SUPPER
Before the bread –
The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, “This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.”
“O Lord, we praise Thee for the gift of Thy Son Christ who died upon the cross. We do not presume to come to Thy table trusting in our own righteousness, but on Thy mercy. Please forgive our sins, cleanse our hearts and put a new spirit within us. Make us aware of the presence of our living Lord, in whose name we pray. Amen.”
Before the cup _
In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me.” For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.
Lord, we solemnly receive Your gift of redemption given us by the blood of Your Son. As we act in obedience, as we remember the price that is paid for our deliverance, we ask O Lord that You continue to bless us and use in the building of Your Kingdom. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen
